You might have heard of many people earning money from home on the Internet. Nowadays, a lot of young bloggers are known to
make money writing online articles about almost everything and make a fortune from the comfort of their homes.
There are 4 main ways to earn money writing articles
1. If your articles are really good, hopefully
you can sell them for a certain amount of money. Good places to start are
Elance.com and
Guru.com.
2. If you have the skills and knowledge, you can
publish them by yourself on your own blog and try to monetize it.
3. You can
submit them to an article directory and promote your existing blog or website which, hopefully, will generate sales for you. The most important article directory is
EzineArticles.com. You can start by submitting your articles there.
4. You can
join a social-publishing network (like
Learniacs.com and
Squidoo.com), easily earn money from advertising and also promote your blog or website.
The good, the bad and the very ugly of each way of using articles
1. Selling your articles for a one-time fee might sound like a good idea if you are new to all this because it doesn't imply any marketing or technical skills, but article prices are usually very low and, if you are not a good copyrighter, you might have a hard time selling them. Here is
Wikipedia's guide for writing better articles.
2. Many bloggers managed to make a decent amount of money from their articles.
Having your own blog and domain name is always a good idea for many businesses. Also, this way their income comes in more than once for each article, because the content they create keeps bringing traffic from the search engines. However, installing, maintaining and marketing a blog requires a lot of technical skills or money, if you need all this work to be outsourced.
3. Submitting articles to article directories
only works if you already have a website or a social-publishing account, because article directories aren't paying you for the content you submit. You have to create a website or a landing page on a social-publishing network in order to benefit from article directories.
4. Social-publishing networks are "
plug-and-play", ready for you to publish your articles and to pay you a certain percentage of the money they make from advertising on the articles you publish. They are very easy to use so, in order to get your articles online you only have to press the "Publish" button. They can also be used to promote your existing website as they let you become well-known as an expert.
Your income also comes in more than once, because your articles keep bringing new people from search engines. Although the percentage of money you get from these networks is less than 100%, they are, usually, a lot easier to promote, starting to bring traffic immediately (because they are already popular). Many of these networks (
Learniacs,
HubPages)
are also paying you a percentage for the people you bring in and sometimes from the people your referrals bring in (at
Learniacs, this works on
10 levels of referrals). This makes it a lot easier for you to create a growing stream of income. The ugly part is that, in order to build a reputable brand, you still have get your own website, but social-publishing websites are a very good starting point.
