The frequency of tooth brushing
Tooth brushing is necessary at least twice a day: once in the morning before breakfast and once in the evening, after dinner. The main goal is the complete removal of the bacterial plaque and not the number of brushings.
The morning gingivo-dental brushing
Before breakfast the brushing acts as gingival massage, increasing the normal vascularization of the gingiva(gum).
The evening gingivo-dental brushing
The most important dental brushing is the one done in the evening, before going to bed. The remaining food debris stored in darkness, low level of oxygen, constant humidity, temperature and pH, which are the main conditions provided by the oral cavity over night, work in favor of microflora growth that has a negative effect on the marginal gingiva (gum) and teeth.
Before using mouthwash, tablets or gels with flour, dental brushing is absolutely necessary for a complete removal of the bacterial plaque.
The duration of tooth brushing
The optimum duration is of 3 to 5 minutes. It is recommended to learn a correct and complete brushing technique. To remove the food debris, during the day, after the meals, you can use a mouthwash for the entire mouth and dental floss or toothpicks for the interdental spaces.
After meals, it also helps to consume vegetables or fruit with high consistency (carrot, apple), which assures a cleaner dental surface.
