Although there is so much out there on the Internet on how to be successful in affiliate marketing, more than 95% of people starting as affiliate marketers fail. Why? There may be more reasons to it but, here are the big 5:
1. People decide it’s too much work
People are taken in by the promise that they can earn money while watching TV or doing nothing. Wrong. There is quite amount of work before getting there. For instance, you need to set up a website and promote it. As soon as people realize they need to work as affiliate marketers, they feel overwhelmed and give up.
2. People promote products they don’t believe in
If you’re dealing with a poor quality product and you know it, sending people to buy it will sound like a fake. Moreover, people will be able to tell that you are lying and you will loose any chance of repeat customers. Always examine the product, sales letter and website to find a good profitable product.
3. People set up websites with no content
Would you pay attention or trust a website that is only a collection of links? Neither would your prospective customers. That is why you need content to gain trust or presell. So if you’re going to invest some money in a website, make sure you are setting it up correctly. Add relevant content which will get you listed in search directories and consider search engine optimization techniques.
4. People treat their visitors like cash-machines
Potential customers are not coming to your website because they want to spend money on you. They are looking for something to solve their problem and you need to be willing to help them get what they need. Make sure you offer something in return to your visitors, otherwise you’ll get nowhere with affiliate marketing.
5. People simply give up
The main reason why most affiliate marketers fail is because they give up. After making mistakes and loosing money, most of them get discouraged and stop trying. In fact the majority of affiliate marketers have had a difficult experience in the beginning involving scams, lost money and frustration with profits that just weren’t coming. Even many successful affiliate marketers experienced this but, became successful because of their constant determination. The difference is that they believed in themselves and kept going, becoming one of the 5% success stories in affiliate marketing.
